LMB’s creative Christmas

05/01/2007 - LMB’s creative Christmas

The LMB Education team banished the myth that Christmas has to be about excess as it visited schools ahead of the festive period to show them how to enjoy a green Christmas.

The pupils of Plume School in Maldon discovered how that with a little imagination and the odd blob of glue, you can transform the contents of a household bin into some interesting Christmas presents.

LMB Education’s Essex co-ordinator Lis Millard teamed up with the recycling team of Maldon District Council to put on a festive workshop the week before Christmas. Children were shown how to make their own festive tree out of textiles, jewellery out of recycled paper, decorations out of plastic bottles and how to make their own handmade Xmas cards and wrapping paper. Plus, all the children were encouraged to bring their old toys they wanted to get rid of and see what they could swap for free.

Cllr Rosewarne, Chairman of the Community Services Committee for Maldon District Council said: “This event is a great way to show how waste can be used as a resource."
