Text Bac
Building Awareness in the Community
LMB is extremely proud to be an original partner on the text-BAC project. TEXT-BAC provides a quality kerbside
collection of textiles and bric-a-brac from 80,000 households in Harlow and Epping Forest. The project visits
households in socially deprived areas ensuring they have an equal opportunity to participate in recycling
initiatives. The project also works with partners to offer therapeutic work to people experiencing social
disadvantage. Residents from St Elizabeth's, a home for people with intractable epilepsy and other associated
disabilities have worked on the project from the start and continue banding the bags and leaflets together,
ready for other residents to deliver across Harlow and Epping. "The continuation of this project is really good
news for St. Elizabeth's." Janet Sherwin, Head of daycare commented, "the project provides paid work for many of
our residents and everyone really enjoys taking part." The textiles collected from the project are bought by
LMB, thus creating funds and aiding the projects development to become self funded. All textiles, clothing and
shoes are sorted by LMB for reuse and recycling.
